Peter G. Mielzynski Sr. (1922-2016)

The late Peter G. Mielzynski Sr. had over 53 years experience in the wines and spirits industry in Canada. During his time as President of McGuinness Distillers, he helped build McGuinness to be a leading distillery including subsidiary companies – Acadian Distillers, Central Canadian Distillers, Fraser Valley Distillers and Calona Wines.

The late Peter Mielzynski Sr. also built the McGuinness agency business where successful brands like Donini wines, Yago wines, Blue Nun, Wyborowa Vodka, Jack Daniels, Schroder & Schyler, St. Remy Brandy, Grant’s Scotch and many other brands were built.

In 1979, after McGuinness was purchased by Standard Brands, the late Peter Mielzynski Sr. left McGuinness voluntarily and founded PMA Canada. Since then, PMA has built numerous brands including Hillebrand Estates Winery, where the late Peter Mielzynski was Chairman and instrumental in building Hillebrand into one of the most premium successful wineries in Canada.

The late Peter Sr. exemplified hard work, family, dedication, loyalty, commitment and passion to the core! We are proud of the legacy he left behind, and in honouring that legacy we will continue to exemplify the values he instilled in us.
