TORONTO – Announced today, the Cambridge Food and Wine Society will present Nugan Estate Winemaker and General Manager Matthew Nugan with the Riedel Winemaker of the Year award on October 26, at an exclusive affair attended by diplomats, LCBO members, restaurateurs and esteemed Canadian wine writers. This award specifically recognizes Nugan Estate’s outstanding achievement in producing exceptional wine.

Producing glass for over 250 years and eleven generations, Riedel is recognized worldwide for designing and producing high quality glasses and decanters for the enjoyment of wine and spirits. Previous winners of the Riedel Winemaker of the Year Award include California’s Robert Mondavi, Miguel Torres of Spain and Lamberto Frescobaldi of Italy.
Contributing to both the production and sales side of the business, Matthew Nugan is responsible for launching the company’s brands in the export market, spending several months of the year hosting wine tastings and conferences, as well as visiting retail outlets and wine buyers. His achievements span beyond winemaking; he is responsible for successfully building Nugan Estate into one of Australia’s top wine exporters.
