Nederburg Heritage Heroes the Brewmaster

The Heritage Heroes collection of individually named, hand-made gourmet wines, honours some of the legends who have shaped Nederburg and its history as one of South Africa’s most awarded wineries. Every one of these wines has been made with a focus on originality, whether in terms of technique or choice of varietal, to offer wine lovers a greater and more nuanced spectrum of flavour.

The Brew Master honours Johann Graue, who acquired Nederburg in 1937 and revolutionised its wines through clonal selection and cold fermentation, setting a lasting standard for excellence.

The proverbial sheep in wolf ’s clothing, this wine conceals more than it reveals. It’s powerful and muscular but it’s under control and self-possessed. Rich with dark blue and black berry fruit flavour with vibrant spice highlights and complexity added by a
dried herb nuance, there is something gentle and appealing in its subtle violet floral notes on the periphery. There’s an oaky tannin note, but it’s supportive rather than overbearing. Everything is in harmony. Long and rewarding.
