Toronto, ON – March 8, 2016 – On March 22nd, Glenfiddich® announced Eleanor King as the winner of the coveted Glenfiddich® Artist in Residence (AiR) Prize during an evening event at The Spoke Club in Toronto. One of only eight prizes awarded internationally each year, the AiR prize offers recipients the opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, directly out of the Glenfiddich® Distillery in Dufftown, a prize valued at $20,000 CDN.
Over one hundred artists from across Canada competed for the prestigious prize. During the residency, the recipient will rub shoulders with other celebrated artists from around the world who will each create an artwork that relates to their experience at Glenfiddich® Distillery. The collection will be left behind to become a part of the distillery’s rich heritage and add to the artistic landscape of the community.
“After fifteen years we continue to be amazed and inspired by the breadth of creativity that is showcased through the Artist in Residence program,” comments Elizabeth Havers, Canadian Brand Ambassador for Glenfiddich®. “At Glenfiddich®, we champion the progressive spirit and continue to challenge the conventions of our craft each year. We are proud to see so many talented Canadians share in this once in a life time experience.”
The award ceremony was hosted by Glenfiddich AiR curator, Andy Fairgrieve, all the way from Dufftown, Scotland. The Glenfiddich® AiR Prize has sponsored more than 100 artists since 2002.
